Kathy's sweet treasures
For the last 2 years, I along with my sister have been walking for 3 km in order to raise awareness and money for Autism Speaks Canada. The way we fund raise is through baking. We bake muffins, cakes, cookies etc and all the proceeds go to autism. In 2016 we raised just over $1000 and this year 2017 our total raised was $2797!!! We are blessed with good friends and family that support us by either making a monetary donation or by purchasing our baked goods. We spend some quality sister time together which by the end of our fundraising efforts we r close to hurting each other...haha.....just kidding....my sister is so lucky to have a great, easy going sister like me!
Because our bake sale was so successful this year, many people have been asking for baked goods at other times of the year, and telling me that i should start a baking business.....so of course, i listen to my supporters and have started a mini baking business on the side. You can order from a long list of yummy things, home baked with love ♥♥♥.
Here is a sample for your viewing pleasure

Looking for love
So after what's been years of not writing on this blog, 4 yrs to be exact, I have decided to use this outlet as i have soooo many things to vent about lol.
Its been so long, I've thought about deleting this blog, as i have no followers and really, it will get lost in the millions of other blogs online these days. But oh well, here goes.....
So a little back story....I am officially single.....it was a rough couple of years, with lots of uncertainty and tears.....Break ups really suck actually! especially when you break up but are still in love with that person! So after a long relationship with one of the kindest, most good hearted man i have ever known.....we finally had the guts to say goodbye to each other....It was so difficult because honestly there was nothing wrong with our relationship, we were a good match for each other. I will save this for another blog.....i really don't have it in me to hash it all out.....its still a sore spot ..... :( .....when i can stop tears from flowing when i think of him, i guess that's when i will know i am ready to talk about it..... Anyhow, who knows maybe one day, our paths will cross again.....maybe not :( .... regardless, I wish him nothing but a lifetime of happiness....
So, since I am now a single lady....I have ventured onto the online dating scene once again....And really, it feels like a waste of time most days. But i am hopeful, that i will find that one person that will be compatible to me. Let me try and give you all a glimpse into a typical day on the online dating scene.
Let me start by saying that being 48, its like a magic number, a jackpot, a hole in one, in terms of age.....my age makes me very popular. From men under the age of 30 to men my age and older.... Why you may ask? Well, cause a woman of 48 is a MILF and or a Cougar.....A MILF being slang for a mother id like to fuck and a Cougar being a woman looking to have sex with younger men.....So because of this, you can just imagine how many emails i get on a daily basis.....So from the young guns of under 30, i am of high interest cause many want a teacher ...someone experienced in the bedroom...ha! And for the others, a fling, a fun night, a friend with benefits.....anything to avoid a commitment lol. So since this seems to be the repertoire of men on these online dating sites, most messages are rude, vulgar and disrespectful. So here is where my problem comes in.
What every happened to a nice casual conversation? Have men just completely given up on trying to converse with women? Do they think that asking a woman how big her breasts are or how often she masturbates is a way of getting to know her? Honestly, and i cant even blame it on age or immaturity....its all men of all ages.....where are all the gentlemen at? How does a single woman get to know a man if he cant even hold a conversation without losing focus and turning to lewd comments or conversation.
Now don't get me wrong, i am not a prude or a cold woman, anyone who knows me, knows that i am an open book. I have no issues with any type of conversation as long as its respectful and in good taste, but really, can u all just save the questions about my favorite sexual position for when i'm actually planning to have sex with you? lol
I get it, you're a man, you're sex deprived, you're lonely, you're horny.....uhhh hello, if you don't want to be all those things, focus. Instead of trying to just get a temporary fix on your current situation, focus on keeping up a conversation, make a connection, maybe that will be a permanent solution to your situation.
I know you somehow have been fooled to believe that women enjoy this kind of conversation....maybe some do, but please don't lump us all in the same boat.....for some of us its a complete turn off!! We need some interesting conversation, a flow, a dialogue. Anyone can ask questions and get answers but it takes a special something to be able to hold and have a conversation about anything or nothing with a total stranger online. That conversation might just start up a spark to something bigger and better.
So here is the dilemna....the life of a single woman, looking for love online....sighhh

DIVERSITY
So as if life in Québec
is ever simple, in the last few months it has been getting more and more
difficult for minorities, ethnics, Anglos or anyone else who doesn’t fit into
the mold of what is deemed to be a true “Québécois”. Born and raised here I
have always been proud of Québec’s uniqueness and openness towards people from
all over the world. But as of late, I have been feeling quite unwanted... :( This
breaks my heart because this is the only home I have ever known. I love the
diversity of this gorgeous province and all that it has to offer but I find
myself wondering if I maybe should have left Québec for Ontario a long while
ago...... Bills, language laws, and now a values charter have brought the worst
out in everyone.
A recent viral video
of a man harassing a woman wearing a hijab on a bus has left me angry and
disgusted. I never expected people could be so horrible (and I’m sure there is
more to come). Telling people they haven’t integrated into Québec society and
that they should go back home. How is it that communities like the Greek,
Italian, Armenian, Jewish etc. have been able to leave their home countries and
come here and not only integrate into Canadian and Québec society, but continue
to grow their own traditions and cultures here, without compromising those of
Quebecers? Maybe it’s time for Quebecers to lay the blame where it
belongs....to themselves! If the French language and Québec religion and
culture is not thriving here or at risk of being lost, it is not because of the
immigrants here. Maybe Quebecers haven’t put much effort into growing that
aspect of their lives?? Maybe it’s easier to complain that some Arab took your
job then to actually admit that he was happy for the opportunity to go to
school and worked harder to rise above everyone around him....maybe harder than
some Québec kid who grew up hating going to school?
I think that we are
not seeing the real picture; we are amongst the luckiest people in the world.
Born in a country where we are free to do as we want, become want we want. We
have opportunities and choice. We can work, go to school, or even sit on our
ass and collect welfare! Most immigrants coming here have not been so lucky.
Imagine being a mother with 4 kids, no job, no food, living in poverty, without
any opportunities, day in and day out. Imagine being a preteen, 12 years old,
but instead of dreaming of one direction, you’re trying to run away from the
bombs falling out of the sky. Imagine being an 8 year old girl and not being
allowed to go to school because education isn’t necessary to be a wife and
mother. Imagine being a 25 year old man, fresh out of university looking for a
job, any job, to help put food on the table to feed your parents and 5 other
siblings.
Immigrants who are
lucky enough to get accepted by Canada and Quebec want nothing more than to
live peacefully and to be allowed all the freedoms and opportunities that we
Canadians were lucky enough to be born into.
Immigration is what Canada and Québec are all about. That’s what our
country is built on. Where did it all go wrong? When I was a young kid growing
up, I never ever questioned a turban on the head or wondered why a woman wore a
hijab. We are a multi ethnic and multi cultural society and have been very
successful at it. Why now is all this
hatred coming out? Most of us are educated enough to know and accept the
cultures, religions and traditions of others. We know that fundamentally we are
all the same. We are all human, we all deserve the same rights and freedoms and
most importantly respect and understanding.
This Values Charter,
so far, has divided us instead of unite us, as our politicians would like to
mention every chance they get on the media. Why and how is our Québec culture
threatened by a bank worker or a nurse or a daycare employee wearing a turban
or hijab? Why must we hide our crosses and mask our beliefs? Why must we be so
focused on what makes us different instead of focusing on how our values are
pretty much the same? I can understand neutrality in the police force, in the
justice system, but a 3 year old just wants to get a hug from her caregiver,
with or without a hijab on. A patient in the hospital, suffering and in pain,
really doesn’t care which god his doctor prays to, his only concern is to get
better.
Somehow in 2013, it’s
obvious to me that we need more religion and spirituality in our lives. Taking
it out of our schools, our government buildings, and now our hospitals,
daycares, etc, is not the answer. Part of the problem with our Québec culture
is that the people denounced their affiliation with the Catholic Church many
years ago. I think we should be encouraging religion and opening up our minds
and hearts and learn about others instead of pushing the unknown away. Maybe we
will all end up learning something. We would definitely get a better
understanding of respect and tolerance of our neighbors.

The fragility of life
I got some bad news yesterday....the day started out like any other but later in the afternoon i got some news from a friend that her good friend passed away the day before. Its always a shock when u hear news about someone passing away, whether u know that person or not, it kind of makes u think about ur own life. This woman left behind a husband and 2 small kids, 10 and 5. She had been fighting various cancers for the last 5 years. The thing that got me was that my friend mentioned that she went to see her on sunday and planned to go on tuesday, but when she tried to reach her friends husband to no avail, decided to call the house only to find out that she had passed monday during the night. Her major regret... I wish i had spent more time with her at the hospital, i didnt think that sunday would be the last time i would be with her :(
After this news, i couldnt think about it without tearing up, Im crying now, while writing this. We all know the drill, tell ur loved ones u love them, spend time with them, enjoy each other cause u never know if today will be urs or their last day .....Now we all think about that, but do not put it in practice. We put off spending time with family and friends for yard work , hockey, football game, holiday shopping even.
Stop what your doing and let the ones close to u know how u feel, how they r loved, appreciated. 3 small words that mean no much.

Letting go
This song says it all sooooo well
Letting go by Straight Lines
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j9SDP1jFUk
They say that if you love somebody
you gotta set them free,
and if you really love somebody
you gotta let them be.
well i dont wanna tie you down
we both need room to grow,
but its so easy havin you around
and the hardest part of love,
is letting go.
its easy to depend on someone
to be part of your life,
and all the time you spend with someone
could make you hold too tight,
well i dont wanna tie you down
we both need room to grow,
but its so easy havin you around,
and the hardest part of love is letting go
the hardest part of love is
letting go
the hardest part of love is
letting go
they say that if you hold on to it
its gonna slip away,
but if the feeling's really true
then you know its gonna stay
well i dont wanan tie you down
we both need room to grow,
but its so easy havin you around
and the hardest part of love is,
letting go

VALENTINE'S DAY???
February 14...... the day we celebrate love and affection. The day where flower sales and chocolate sales are at their highest point. Restaurants too, make a lot of money on and around this day. But really.............why? Are we that shallow, that we need a day marked on the calender for this reason?
For me, loving someone, should be a celebration every single day of ur life together, not just on valentine's day. Sure its great to receive flowers, a card, a gift , a night out, etc. but why cant these things be shared on every other day? If your married or in a couple, its expected that in some way or another u will celebrate ur love on this day.The social pressure is high, its the big question.............So what did he get u for valentine's day? or what did u guys plan for valentine's day?
When i was married, this day eventually became a big issue. Its all good, when things r great in your relationship and each of u agree on the importance of this day or lack of it. But when u and ur mate do not agree, things can get ugly. I remember arguing about not wanting money spent on flowers on valentine's day. But feel free to purchase flowers for me on any other day, just because you want to, and not because of the social pressures to do so.
The day the delivery man came into the place i was working, everyone was soooo excited, waiting to see who they r for, saying oh i think they r for uuuuuu, pointing at me. I on the other hand am literally praying my husband did not just spend $100 (of money that we do not have) on flowers. Well sure enough the flowers were for me, beautiful as they were, it was unnecessary and in considerate, considering we had a discussion about it and i was clear, that i didn't want our money spent on flowers. Come to think of it, another year , it was a foot massager, another yr a full body massager, lol.The foot massager i returned the next day, and the full body massager i used 3 times, lol. Now for any man reading this, here's a thought, save ur money and get down and massage her feet, or better yet, massage all of her :).I think i speak for women around the world, that would make a better valentines day present.
So there's the social pressures for married people and couples and the social pressures for single people. It seems no one wants to be alone on valentine's day. Honestly its one freaking day, big woop! So everyone rushes to find a date to spend the day with. Like does that even qualify lol?
I say screw society and do what u want. Celebrate or not, alone or not, just do what u want and enjoy but keep in mind, love is to be celebrated each and every day and not just on February 14. Write your partner a note in the morning and put in his pants pocket once a week. Make her favorite meal often, kiss and touch each other daily, do things that will make him/her happy, give each other a bubble bath, keep it fun, and stay connected on valentines day and the other 364 days in the year!
That's my 2 cents :)

SISTERS
During the hospital stay, the only way i could concentrate solely on getting better was because of my sisters. My biological sister Debbie, is my life saver. I can count on her no matter what. She took over my business for 2 weeks while i was, first, in the hospital and second, home trying to recover. I don't think she realizes how valuable she is, or how much i appreciate all her help. Truly the bestest sister!! I love her :). She also came to see me every day while i was in the hospital, along with my brother, who usually is not the type to show outward affection for anyone, me included, but i think he was really scared for me . Now my other sister is my long time friend Chantal who i love like a sister, and who i can count on to help in every way. She took care of my kids as if they were her own and made sure i was OK and didn't need or want anything. Also a daily visiter and a worry wart :). I love her as well, more than she knows, I'm sure...........Actually she is sort of like a second mom to my kids, they love her and her family. OK enough of the corny stuff, lol. I just wanted to say that good friends r so important and really i am blessed with amazing friends, friends i can call at a drop of a hat with a problem and they will help me with a solution. It does make life a little easier knowing that when ur in trouble , u have people u can count on.:) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I love you guys ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Club 281 and The hospital
Club 281
Ok , so here we are in 2011. I've been away so long, so let me first write about our girls nite out at Club 281.That was way back in October of 2010 some time.
For those who don't know, Club 281 is a place for the ladies who want to see men strip :).
Now as fun as it sounds, it was hard getting the girls to come to this outing. Most thought been there, done that, others were appalled that i would go to such a place, lol. Well in my case, I'm usually up for anything and I have fun no matter where i go, so even though i had been there twice (in my younger days lol) I decided it would be fun and a perfect place for unlimited eye candy.
So off we went.......I have to say it was kind of boring, I mean, u've seen one, u've seen them all , no??
Not only was it NOT entertaining, but i was totally shocked by the behaviour of some women, I mean seriously ladies, if ur that desperate, hire an escort who will give u full service in private, instead of dishing out $$$$ for dance after dance while you try to fondle urself in PUBLIC!!!
Not to mention, I almost got into a fight with the women at the table in front of us who kept standing, yelling, and dancing and blocking our view. Later they were so disruptive that their group was escorted out of the club. Can u say LOSERS!!! lol
Shortly after that we decided to leave the club, to the dismay of a few others, who wanted to stay. But really, 3 hours of naked men and screaming women was more than enough for me!
The Hospital
Sometime soon after that girls nite out, i started feeling crappy. i seemed to be catching a cold, i had a sore throat, and felt crumby. But as quickly as it came on, it was gone, no more sore throat. Instead, days past and i was feeling worse and worse, i was feeling dizzy, my head hurt and i was totally exhausted. I then started having a pain in my chest and then actually felt bloated. I never thought these symptoms i was having were related in any way, i just assumed i was feeling crappy and give it a few more days i would be better.I started popping Tylenol every 4 hours to feel a tiny bit better. Well after a few weeks another symptom developed, i noticed i was sooooooo thirsty, was drinking water constantly but peeing very little (which is so unlike me) and i was sort of afraid to eat cause i felt like there was an elephant sitting on my chest (i thought it was heartburn). Then shortly after that, i noticed it was becoming very hard for me to breathe and i developed a dry dry cough, almost asthmatic and swelling in my feet. Now almost a month since I felt normal, I decided maybe i had pneumonia or bronchitis so i should see a dr. I made my way to the clinic that day, it was a Friday. The nurse takes my blood pressure and tells me its high. Now my blood pressure has never been high, ever, so that kind of surprised me. So in comes the dr. She checks me and states that my lungs r clear and that i don't seem to have any infection. She can't explain the other symptoms, except to tell me that I'm overweight and that's why i am having trouble breathing, coughing swelling and high blood pressure. She prescribes a 5 day antibiotic, just in case (that makes me laugh LOL).
Come Tuesday, I am still feeling like crap. So i decide to go to another clinic for a second opinion. I literally spent the whole day at the clinic. But finally after a lung x ray and a urine test, the dr says, something is definitely wrong with u, too much protein in ur urine, it may be ur kidneys, go to the hospital right away.
After i make arrangements for my kids. i make my way to the hospital preparing myself for a nights sleep in the waiting room, though when i parked my car and started to walk to the emergency entrance, it took every ounce of energy for me to keep standing and not pass out in the street. I was so winded and dizzy and could barely speak. Thankfully a nurse took me as soon as i walked in. I must have been like the walking dead. They gave me a bed right away.
The next few hours were scary cause they didn't know what was wrong with me. In the next few hours and days, i had an EKG, a heart scan, a heart ultrasound, a lung scan, xrays, i had iodine injected in my veins and had to test my lungs by breathing in some toxic fumes lol (sounds strange, i know). Finally after all these tests and some setbacks, I vomited , ate very little during my stay, barely slept, and worse, I had 2 seizures and my blood pressure was over 220. A brain scan soon followed cause of the seizures. Thankfully my heart, lungs and brain are all 100% healthy :). Here was the diagnosis: I must have contracted strep somehow(which is rare not to have any symptoms) and because it went undetected and untreated, it attacked my kidneys, which then causes water retention, hence the swelling and bloating and chest pain (my lungs were full of fluid), and high blood pressure hence the dizziness and headaches. This also caused the coughing and the excessive thirst and not peeing. So after 5 days spent in the hospital being poked and prodded, i finally was allowed to come home with a cocktail of medicines to help my kidneys heal.
Moral of the story is : if u feel like crap, go to the dr asap, and if the dr doesn't believe u , go to another one!!!
As of today, the dr says i'm 80% better :)

Im alive lol
I know I haven't been around for a while, but the summer was busy and hot like hell. It was so great! we really got to enjoy the new pool and the kids didn't get on my nerves that much :) which is a very good thing!
So back to school went well, sort of uneventful now that the kids are grown :( but growing up has its pros and cons i guess.
I did have my girls nite out on saturday night. WOW! we had such a blast, we went to a club downtown, something we havent done is years lol, like i mean a lot of years, like 10 maybe. Sad but true, time flies, I think we should do it more often, we had so much fun, but the next morning my feet, legs, thighs, and ass were killing me. But i'm all healed again and ready for another night dancing my ass off lol.
So let me talk a bit about my pet peeve about the girls nite out. lots of venting to come, so feel free to ignore me lol. so i send out the email way in advance as usual, and a few people respond, and most don't. Like i don't get it? how hard is it for people to decide on going or not? r we like 16 when we would wait to find out who is going with us? or whose going to be there, to make a decision on if we r going ? it seems people have a hard time committing to anything, and an equally hard time saying no. I spoke to a few friends about the gno and they were supposed to join the rest of us, but up until it was time to leave, i didn't hear from them, so i was pissed. Anyway , the next day i heard from this friend , and totally let her have it, i mean if u don't want to come just say so , but this not responding business is bebe lala stuff . and if its gonna continue, i just wont invite u anymore, she said, i know sorry, i was wiped ! Wiped! i responded, we r all wiped! its the story of all our lives but we make an effort once a month to get together with friends and have a good time!
anyway bottom line is, i wont allow that to put a damper on my night, we had such a blast!
